Signs of Other Sedative-Hypnotic Addiction (Ambien)
Sleeping pills like Ambien can be incredibly addictive for people who suffer from insomnia.
- Drowsiness During the Day – People who chronically abuse sleeping medications may have lingering drowsiness during the day that they may try to rectify with caffeine, Adderall, or other stimulants.
- Sleep-Activity – A rare but possible side effect of using Ambien is sleep-eating, which could include meal preparation. Some individuals have reported engaging in other behaviors including sleep driving.
- Impaired Coordination – Because people who abuse or are addicted to sedative hypnotics may remain partially asleep, their coordination may be compromised.
- Amnesia – Ambien in particular can cause people to have periods of blackouts; they will be unable to recall the exact circumstances of an event when questioned later.
